First United Methodist Church in Cairo, GA, is seeking a competent, dynamic Christian musician to serve as Music Director for the church's traditional music program. Cairo First UMC is a medium-sized historic downtown church located 35 miles north of Tallahassee, FL. The church employs a professional music staff and has an established music program, rooted in traditional service music and Methodist hymnody, but also embracing the rich evangelical and contemporary music found in most United Methodist congregations.
Major responsibilities include directing and managing adult and handbell choirs, leading congregational singing, and planning worship services in collaboration with the minister and church staff. This position requires approximately 15 hours per week with Wednesdays and Sundays being major work days. The annual salary range is from $22,000 to $25,000, based on education and experience. A prospective candidate should preferably hold the minimum of a bachelor's degree in music, or be working toward completion of a music degree.
