Job Description:

The congregations of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, Albany, GA, seek a part-time Director of Music (Choirmaster/Organist).

Job Purpose: Develop and lead liturgical music for St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, in consultation with the Rector and other team members, in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values, and theology of the two congregations. Services are currently at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. on Sundays.

Responsibilities: Communicate faithfully with the Rector, other staff members, volunteers, and members of the congregation in a manner that is clear, truthful, and kind. Select and plan hymns, anthems, instrumental music and service music for Sunday and Wednesday services, Holy Week, Christmas Eve and other special services. Lead and direct effective and productive rehearsals of choirs, musicians, and visiting artists. Play the organ/piano in order to accompany the congregation/choir during all services and rehearsals. Participate in the creative planning of the Sunday and special services with the Rector and other team members. Participate in the planning of liturgical formation of all ages. Equip, motivate, supervise and shepherd singers and musicians.

Benefits: Three Sundays per year, paid time off. Must give the Rector no less than two weeks’ notice of the intent to utilize this time off, unless unusual circumstances prevent giving this notice. No Wednesdays off, other than those available during the summer.

Qualifications: Attested musical skills and competence; ability to plan, organize, coordinate the music program, and motivate musicians and singers; strong communications skills; sense of humor and positive attitude; strong team player who works well with people, to include the choir, staff and congregation; committed to the church's vision, leadership, and people; dependable, responsible, self-motivated and creative.

Compensation: Geographically competitive.
