Job Description

Scope & Responsibilities:


  • Select music for each traditional service and collaborate with the Senior and Associate Pastor(s) to design the theme and order of the services
  • Rehearse/lead Chancel Choir, Chamber Choir and Above & Beyond (rehearsals, Sunday morning services and special concerts/events)
  • Possibly direct the handbell choirs when needed
  • Coordinate choirs, ensembles, soloists, etc. for worship services
  • Maintain/update music library
  • Select music for ensembles and handbell choirs in collaboration with their directors
  • Send weekly emails/updates to various choirs
  • Build ProPresenter presentation lyric slides as needed
  • Oversee Chancel Choir Council (meets 2-4 times a year)
  • Coordinate, rehearse, and conduct instrumentalists and orchestra for various services and concerts throughout the year


  • Reports directly to the Associate Pastor
  • Provide “pastoral” care and oversight to Traditional Worship Ministry servants
  • Attend Worship Staff meetings
  • Attend Worship Production meetings
  • Attend lead Staff and full staff meetings


  • Liaison for Holy Communion stewards and acolytes; work with the associate pastor to provide training
  • Order supplies for sanctuary through appropriate administrative staff
  • Prepare sanctuary space for worship each week
  • Build ProPresenter presentations for traditional services
  • Work with responsible coordinator concerning details for weddings and funerals


  • A heart for God and a servant’s heart for God’s people
  • Solid and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Willingness and experience in serving as a member of the staff leadership team in the local church
  • At least 5 years service in a large church setting overseeing traditional choir-led music ministry at a church that offers both modern band-led and traditional choir-led worship services
  • Minimum of a Masters Degree in Music
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Familiarity and proficiency with ProPresenter and PlanningCenter Online
  • Knowledge, appreciation for and experience in leading a variety of styles of music
  • Extensive experience with choral, handbell, and instrumental ensembles
  • The willingness and experience to work as a “team player” on a large church staff
