Job Description

Seeking visionary leader to establish and elevate St. Luke's United Methodist Church as the pacesetting church in Indianapolis for traditional worship.

St. Luke's is one of the largest United Methodist churches in the North Central Jurisdiction and celebrates traditional worship music. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, it is a 6,000-member progressive congregation. We average 2,500 in worship throughout five different Sunday morning worship services including three lively traditional worship services and two contemporary worship services. We also have a monthly Taize' contemplative service. There are 15 musical groups with 500 participants: the 140-voice Chancel Choir; children's, women's, hand bell and flute choirs; and an orchestra. We are seeking a full-time Director of Traditional Worship and the Arts and conductor of the Chancel Choir for our traditional services.

The successful candidate will possess a deep Christian faith and high musical competence with experience in leading a large music staff and administrating numerous musical programs. This person will be a cooperative team player, specifically with pastors and other team leaders, will be dedicated to all styles of music, and will also be supportive of St. Luke's mission, vision and creative spirit. This person should have demonstrated the ability, or willingness, to connect with other worship and arts members in the community, as well as with established and emerging composers of church music.

A minimum of 5 years of experience with choral conducting experience in sacred conducting in a large church and an advanced degree in music or a related field are required.

Competitive salary and benefits. A full job description is available on the church website:
