 SUGGESTIONS FOR A ‘VISUAL’ PENTECOST

Pentecost celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the many disciples, their sending forth into the world and the birthday of the church.  Its color is red and offers so many opportunities for color, movement, different languages, etc.

Some last minute (and easy ideas) would be to wear red (orange and yellow), use red streamers in your sanctuary, have someone work in sign language to do the Lord’s Prayer if it your custom--or some other prayer, or pass out red bookmarks.  We have positioned MANY candles on the altar, asked congregational members to each bring their own candles and placed them in a designated spot, had a birthday cake for the church, sent untied balloons up into the sanctuary to illustrate the wind, used fans to create wind, etc.

Be imaginative and creative ~~
